Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe came from a multi-cultural household. She was born in South London. Her father is a Nigerian-Swiss, while her mother was English. She was born and lived in a housing estate run by the council located south of London. When she was fourteen, she was enrolled at The Brit School. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she earned a BA degree in acting. The stage she appeared in was several productions as a student including King Henry V, as Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her acting career with Storm Damage. Since then, she has appeared on Teachers, Doctors Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe made her debut motion picture in the 2007 Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. In the following film, she was the lead in Elisha on the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In her role, she also played Ollie in the six episodes of Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. Madekwe played Bambi in The ITV2 series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe also starred as the lead character in How to lose friends & alienate people and be apathetic, which premiered on Sony Pictures Entertainment the year 2008. Theatre credits for Madekwe include Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe was officially introduced to her US debut on The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show ran just two episodes at The CW, and was later cancelled. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. The show premiered in May 2013 and it was revealed that Madekwe, who had been a series regular in the two previous seasons, was to leave the series after a guest-appearance in the premiere episode of the season's new episode. From 2014 to 2016, she starred in Salem in the role of Tituba. Madekwe married her actor partner Iddo goldberg in June 2012. Together, they worked on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Goldberg also appeared alongside Madekwe on Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress that was nominated two times for the Gemini Award, hails from an extensive Hamilton family. Four of her older brothers were also in the family and included twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. The four brothers of Ashley, all very physically active, were all playing hockey in the winter months and played baseball in the summer months, which means they grew up mostly in baseball and arenas. Ashley never actually walked -she danced, so at age two and a half she began Baby Ballet -and she fell in love with. It was then that she discovered Ashley's interest in dance. Until she graduated from high school, Ashley danced competitively in the top divisions in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip-hop. The top soloist at important competitions like International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more were awarded to Ashley.
