Niykee is a song-writer who, despite her hectic career, has kept a regular routine. Personal highlights included being chosen by Snoop dogg to be his sidekick during the YouTube Brandcast event in May 2013. The songwriting process is an inspiring source for aspiring producers. Niykee listens constantly to beats and discovers many songs that inspire her. I'll know if a beat's excellent after just five seconds. Then I'll have a song in my head, and I'll start writing right away she tells. I'll sit out on my front porch and play my guitar, and then the lyrics just come and usually it's finished in just 30 minutes. Niykee continues to develop her skills as a poet and the lyricist. She explains how the pain she experienced in the past is a constant source of unique inspiration. Although I don't write directly about events that have happened to me all the hurt of growing up and loss of my sister up getting pushed into my lyrics, she says. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and adds a greater significance, something I consider very important. I want to be able listen to my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of the things I've written.
